What is Tackle Twill?
Tackle twill, or appliqué, involves sewing
material, usually a nylon twill, to clothing. Originally, the twill was laid and
sewn by hand or with a sewing machine one letter at a time. It was time
consuming, not always uniform, and limited to letters and basic shapes. Many
types of clothes were done this way, the most visible have always been baseball
uniforms and varsity jackets.
Today, by using embroidery machines, we can create complex combinations of
embroidery and twill. This allows us to create intricate, 3-dimensional designs
that are large, detailed, and gorgeous. It may take time to digitize the
artwork, but the final result if worth all the time and effort involved.

At Shirt Factory & Sporting Goods, we use
our embroidery machines to do the stitching for many reasons. First, we can
provide a uniform quality not always found in the hand-sewn variety of tackle
twill. Second, we have the flexibility of using many different types of
stitching on the twill or other material to give many different looks to the
same design. Finally, we can do the work faster on multi-head machines, thus
keeping shorter delivery times.
Quality, consistency, and complexity of design add to our versatility. Our
expert operators consider appearance to be the more important aspect of your
garment. It shouldn't unravel and we do our very best to insure that the
design will outlast the clothing. |
